Get Involved
You do not need a big congregation or a lot of lead time. You need a cause your community cares about and a week in the calendar. Here is how to get started.
Where to start
The leader guide walks through everything you need to run Fast58 in your community or organisation. How to communicate it to your people, how families track their savings across the week, how to bring it to a close and direct the funds. It is designed to be handed to a leader who has never heard of Fast58 before and has them ready to go.
Download the guideIf you would rather have a conversation before committing to anything, that is completely fine. Tony speaks at churches and organisations regularly and is happy to answer questions directly. Some leaders want to understand the model more deeply before they bring it to their community. Others just want to know it is a real person behind it.
Get in touchWhat happens next
The first time a community runs Fast58, it usually looks something like this.
A leader reads the guide and decides it is worth trying. They pick a cause their community already has a connection to, something with a name and a face rather than a general fund. They nominate a week, usually aligned with an existing fast or a season the community is already moving through, and they communicate it to their people a week or two beforehand.
During the week, families eat more simply. At the end of the week, each family works out what they saved and gives that amount through whatever giving channel the community already uses.
The leader collects the total, directs it to the nominated cause, and tells everyone what it added up to.
That is the whole process. Most communities find the second time around takes half the planning because people already know what to expect and a number of them will have been looking forward to it.
Beyond the congregation
Tony's vision has always been that the model extends beyond Sunday congregations. A business, a community organisation or a workplace with a shared set of values can run Fast58 just as well as any faith community can. The framework is the same and the impact is the same.
If your organisation does not already have a cause in mind, Tony can connect you with a local church or community project that does. The money still stays local and it still flows through people and structures your community already trusts.
Worth knowing
Fast58 does not collect funds and it does not take a percentage of anything given. There are no licensing fees and no reporting obligations back to us. Your community adopts the framework, runs it, and the money goes directly to the cause you chose. We are not in the middle of any of it.
If you want the full picture of how it works before getting started, the How It Works page has everything.
